Oftentimes store bought transitions can't accommodate the height or width of the gap between the existing floor and the newly tiled space. As a carpenter as well as tile setter, when necessary, I enjoy creating custom oak transitions that look beautiful from the vantage of both rooms. This particular transition (above) is designed to match the new hardwood flooring which will be installed in the Spring, and for the transition below I created a perfectly cut fit, as well as a custom-colored stain to match the existing woodwork.

Regarding the skewed, high, longitudinal corners of this black and white tiled bathroom: the homeowner insisted that I not alter his framing work before I tiled this walk-in shower, which is why there are angled narrow cuts in the corners. Many years ago, I was a professional framer for five years, and I'm intimately familiar with properly plumbing walls. If all the work was mine, or if I was allowed to fix this prior to tiling, this wouldn't happen. The rest turned out beautifully.
